Where a supplier listing displays a Medicare acceptance status, this indicates only that the supplier has represented to us – through direct correspondence conducted in winter 2025/2026 – that they work with Medicare as a payment pathway for qualifying hospital bed rentals. It has the following specific, limited meaning:

  • The supplier has indicated they are enrolled as a Medicare-participating or non-participating DMEPOS (Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies) supplier, or that they assist patients in utilizing Medicare benefits for rental costs.
  • It does not mean that your specific rental will be covered by Medicare.
  • It does not mean that Medicare will cover the full cost of your rental.
  • It does not mean the supplier’s Medicare participation status has not changed since our last verification.

 

ℹ Medicare Does Not Cover the Full Rental Cost

Medicare Part B typically covers 80% of the Medicare-approved rental amount for qualifying durable medical equipment, after your annual Part B deductible has been met. You remain responsible for the 20% co-insurance. Additionally, if a supplier charges more than Medicare’s approved amount and is a non-participating supplier, you may owe the difference (known as excess charges). Your total out-of-pocket cost depends on your specific Medicare plan, any supplemental (Medigap) insurance, your deductible status, and the supplier’s billing arrangement.

2a. How Pricing Data Was Collected

Pricing information displayed on supplier listings was obtained primarily through direct correspondence with each supplier (approximately 95% of pricing data), with the remainder sourced from information publicly available on suppliers’ own websites. This data was collected in winter 2025/2026.

Prices shown represent the information provided to us at the time of collection. They are intended to give you a general sense of the price range in your area and help you compare suppliers – they are not quotes, and they are not binding on any supplier.
